Director of Business Development (Sr. Sales)

Job Summary:

  • The primary objective of this position is to bring new business opportunities into the company
  • Client-facing activities include: getting meetings; initiating, building and sustaining relationships; negotiating deal terms and pricing; resolving concerns; closing the deal; and ensuring client satisfaction
  • Educate prospects, create interest and convey value of our educational marketing programs
  • Initiate high-level, interactive business conversations with key decision-makers
  • Build a strong pipeline and expand customer relationships within the segment to ensure new, renewed and increased business
  • Consistently close new business in a highly competitive consultative selling environment

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of business development/business development management experience in the professional services and solutions arena
  • An undergraduate degree required. Masters level education or other advanced learning is a plus
  • A proven record for selling complex services and solutions at the "C" level of Fortune 500 companies
  • Experience in effectively managing a number of accounts and a business development pipeline

  • Executes strategies, goals and objectives to completion
  • Persuasive, winsome, persistent, relentless self-starter motivated by challenge and change
  • Resourceful, collaborative and professional
  • Mastery of sales skills, including navigating past gatekeepers, creating interest at all levels of the prospect organization, and developing strategic business solutions for potential clients
  • Market-leading communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to process information and incorporate feedback into an interactive business conversation
  • Sales discipline
  • Sales facilitation skills to ensure that a meeting serves its business objectives and incorporates feedback while using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods
  • An executive presence; the ability to create a good first impression, command attention and respect, show an air of confidence, and deal comfortably with colleagues
