Press ReleasesRadioShack & Powered Launch Free Online Consumer CoursesAustin, TX — October 18, 2006 — RadioShack Corporation (NYSE: RSH) and Powered, Inc. today announced customers can take free online consumer electronics educational courses through http://learningcenter.radioshack.com/. Each course will be moderated and taught by subject matter experts from across the country, including award-winning authors, technology leaders and technology professionals. Powered, which worked with RadioShack to develop and host the course content at the new RadioShack Learning Center, is a provider of online consumer education programs for some of the world's leading brands, including HP and Sony. The initial online courses at http://learningcenter.radioshack.com/ will have staggered start and end dates throughout October and November and feature such topics as how to choose the right computer, satellite radio, digital photography techniques, the mobile office, digital and wireless accessories, selecting the ultimate home theater, digital music, and one of the hottest subjects this fall – how to select, set up and configure HDTV systems. Courses are completely free, but are limited on a first-come, first-served basis. "Customers give credit to RadioShack for its knowledgeable sales associates who help them understand new technologies and select the best solutions for their individual needs," said Cara Kinzey, RadioShack's senior vice president-information technologies. "We're now bringing that distinctive world-class customer service to online shoppers as well." Kinzey said certain subjects regarding technology can appear daunting to some customers, so allowing them to gain a measure of comfort using a self-paced online course is a convenient solution. "More people each year are using the Internet to research and educate themselves about technology topics," Kinzey said. "Our goal with the RadioShack Learning Center is to help satisfy our customers' thirst for more in-depth knowledge about new technologies and translate that into a positive in-store or online shopping experience." "Consumer electronic products are converging now more than ever, and retailers who best educate their customers on how to make the most of new technologies are the ones who will build brand loyalty and sell more products," said Dave Ellett, chairman and CEO of Powered. "We're thrilled that RadioShack has joined innovators like HP and Sony in selecting Powered to build their brand through such innovative online consumer education programs."
